Tea Tree Oil Acne Treatment – A Natural Acne Remedy

Tea tree oil acne treatment is derived from tea tree oil – a natural substance taken from the Australian Melaleuca alternifolia tree. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it useful for a variety of ills, including acne, gingivitis, mild toenail fungus and athlete’s foot.

Tea tree oil acne treatment has been found to be an excellent substitute for standard acne benzoyl peroxide treatment. Both tea tree oil and benzoyl peroxide are antibacterial, and both substances will destroy the bacteria that cause acne. The major difference is that tea tree oil is a natural remedy that has fewer side effects. Benzoyl peroxide can cause irritation for many people, whereas tea tree oil – when properly applied – has no side effects for most people.

So what is the best tea tree oil acne treatment?

There is no single best tea tree oil acne treatment. Although many sources strongly advise to dilute tea tree oil to a 5% solution, it has been found that applying tea tree oil in its pure (100%) form seldom causes irritation. Many experts believe it to be totally safe as a topical treatment – a treatment applied externally to the affected area. However, it is not safe for many people to take tea tree oil internally.

Although tea tree oil will alleviate acne symptoms, you should be aware that the tea tree oil acne treatment may not completely kill off the acne bacteria.
